Spank Fest West Domino Tournament Rules
.BE ON TIME. Do not leave the premises; doing so can delay the tournament and you may be disqualified. No smoking or coffee breaks are permitted during matches. Check with the brackets table before taking any break.
.SCORES must be orally called before the next person plays, draws or passes. (Either partner may call the score.) SCORING will be done in multiples of 5 (5-35 points).
.WINNING: Each game will be played to 150 points and the first person or team to reach 150 points wins the game.
.MATCH is the best 2 out of 3 for singles or partners (including finals). For Cutthroat 3 games will be played before player elimination begins.
.CHANGING PARTNERS is not permitted.
.ALL MATCHES will be played with each player drawing 7 dominoes. All players are responsible for checking on under-draws or over-draws before play begins.
.DREW AND COULD PLAY: lose the game. The game is stopped at that point and the other person or team wins that game.
.PASSED AND COULD PLAY: lose the game. The game stopped at that point and the other person or team wins that game.
.NO CHEATING is permitted by word, deed, or action, including trying to transfer information to a partner. Any suspected cheating should immediately be called to the attention of the floor judge. Do not wait until after the game or hand. Cheating will result in immediate disqualification. Spectators cannot talk among themselves or to players during a game.
.FIRST TO PLAY is determined by shuffling the dominoes and drawing. The high double plays first to start the game and after a locked game. The person to the right of the person that domino’s will shuffle each time. The person that domino’s selects their dominoes first then other players are allowed to pick. The player that domino’s plays the first domino. Participants shall keep their hands above the table level and shall not show dominoes to other players or observers except when playing a domino, or marking a score. Once a domino is exposed on the table, it is considered played.
.NO REDRAW OR RESHUFFLE is permitted due to voids in suits or too many doubles.
.ALL DOMINOES NOT SHUFFLED are the responsibilities of all players. If some are accidentally left out, they will be returned to the deck and reshuffled. If they are intentionally left out, refer to a judge for a ruling.
.DOMINOES EXPOSED during the shuffle will be reshuffled.
.Exposed dominoes while drawing a hand will keep in the hand of the player that exposed the domino.
.MISPLAYED DOMINO, if caught before the next person plays or passes, will be played elsewhere on the table, if it will play. If it will not play, it will be turned face-up on the table and played at the first opportunity by the person making the error. Prior to the next play, the player with the turned-up domino must play or pass. If the misplayed domino is not caught before the next person passes or plays, it will stand as a played domino.
.PLAYED ON THE WRONG DOUBLE FOR THE SPINNER and is not caught before the next player plays or passes that double will stand as the spinner. If the wrong play is caught before the next player plays or passes and the domino will not play, it will be turned face-up on the table and played at the first opportunity by the person making the error. Prior to the next play, the player with the turned-up domino must play or pass.
.PLAYED OUT OF TURN, a domino will be left face-up on the table and played at the first opportunity.
.LOCKED GAME results only after all the dominoes have been drawn and neither player can play. In both singles and doubles, the player or the team with the lowest number of points get the points in the opponent's hand(s). (In the case of a tie, no one gets the points.)
.THE TIME LIMIT ON PLAYS will be approximately 10 seconds after prior domino is played and requires paying attention while others are playing. Call for a judge if someone is playing too slowly. The play should be made before the judge gets to the table unless player is disputing the previous domino played. (Those intentionally delaying the game will be warned. If slow play continues, the player playing too slowly may be disqualified from the tournament.)
.BILLIGERANT INDIVIDUAL will be disqualified and escorted off the premises.
